… i just had a one hour long fight with adrammelech. ha… ha. my only excuse is that i’m underleveled. and larsa keeps dying every three zombies. and. i suck at quickenings. ;______;

FINAL FANTASY IV

okay so i finished the game. random rambling time.

kain is all sorts of awesome. and so so so broken. jump + phoenix + the occasional dry ether (only against zeromus, really) = a crapload of things pwnage. his strength stat does look pretty bad though. it’s… 20 points lower than cecil’s as of level 74 (?).

edge/rydia is cute :D.

why is it never actually explained why kain could be controlled by golbez? (also, kain = proto!riku. sooo proto!riku. except kain’s ability to switch sides in the matter of seconds is actually quite impressive. like… you know, he got from “we should kill the kid” to “rebellion against baron YAH” in about five seconds.) and uh. does he actually have a face XDDDDDDDD.

i hate the lack of save points in the final dungeon. the moment i got the treasure hunter augment i ran into a red dragon and promptly proceeded to get slaughtered because i did not cast berserk or something on the red dragon and for some reason didn’t use smoke even after kain died and revived the entire party. why did i do that.

i never actually played the old version of FFIV, but the dialogue localization here is totally fine. but what does “you spoony bard” actually mean?

so… game came out in japanese. since i am weird and like FE, i played for half a day and got past chapter 11. some first impressions.

- battle save is gone, the normal quick save is back. also, there are one or two “save points” on each map that you can save on whenever you stand in that square, but each save point can only be used once – once you save, it’s gone. it’s nice for huge battles.

- … dude. shooters. wtf.

- having to kill off units in order to get to gaiden = what. the eff. is this. i mean, most of the units are crap and have crap growth rates, but it’s FE. one of the challenges is to keep everyone alive. why are you letting me kill people? D:? is this some weird way of encouraging the use of meatshields?

- speaking of killing things. is chapter 12 even possible without letting the unarmed people in the upper corner die?

- navarre. ♥ also, why is oguma NOT GAINING STRENGTH. 40% STR GROWTH, WHAT’S GOING ON? I HATE YOU RNG. (… on a happier note, navarre just gained a five stat level up. great.)

- … do i seriously have to train up rinda? she’s 13 levels below maric.

- i like the art style just fine. i don’t understand why people say it’s ugly. x_x it’s just that marth’s face looks weird.

- i hate how archers always work for enemies but never work for me. D: maybe i just suck.

- can i kill maria? i don’t think i’ve reached my kill people requirement yet.
